Process for Moving Anger to Compassion

Steps to Complete Anger Purge

Set aside 4-6 hours and find a comfortable/safe place where you will be uninterrupted.

1. Determine 8-10 categories to identify areas/sources of anger and write them down. Example: House, Family, Money, Self, Work, etc. Then determine what causes anger for each category. Write down all sources of anger under each category.

2. Take a look at each category and each area of anger and put them in order from easiest/least to hardest/largest source.

3. For each source of anger write it out as “I am angry about ____________”.

4. Next identify what the hidden sadness is under the anger “I am sad about____________”.

5. Once you have identifies the hidden sadness identify the physical hurt that is within the body. Ask “Where is the hurt in my body” and identify where the pain is coming from.

6. Feel the pain and where it is coming from, write down under each source of anger “The pain is in my ____________”.

7. Then really feel that deep hidden pain and cry it all out to release it from your body and melt it away.

8. Once you have released the anger, sadness, hurt, and pain counter each source with the truth for each source. Example: “I’m lovable independent of anything”. This will then replace the anger with the feeling of compassion and create empowerment.
